Show Notes

In the third episode in Season 2 of the Accelerating Change podcast, Dr Paul Browning speaks with Professor Yong Zhao, respected author and academic and Gabrielle Kempton, Director of Realms of Thinking at St Paul’s School.

Professor Yong Zhao is a Foundation Distinguished Professor in the School of Education at the University of Kansas and a professor in Educational Leadership at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education in Australia. He has published over 100 articles and 30 books focussing on the implications of globalisation and technology on education.

Yong believes that the education system is outdated and the focus ought to be on giving students the autonomy to take control of their learning.

Yong’s hope for the future of education:

“I really hope that students can be treated as human beings when they come to school; that is, they have passion, intention, they are nurtured as learners, and they want to be creative – and schools ought to respect that. To understand that we don’t get students ready for the future, we get them ready to create the future.”

Yong Zhao

Join us for this episode where Paul, Gabrielle, and Yong dive into what the education industry needs and how creativity plays a role in educating young people.
